Hello and welcome back everyone I'm Lloyd Johnson and today I'm making a video, by request, about my little super tiny vintage jewellery collection and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, because I find a little odd to go through the drawers and just pick out some pieces and show them to you.
So I thought about picking out my favorited pieces of jewellery, pieces that mean something to me and have a little story to them and I wanted to start with these earrings here. There's a vintage original clip earrings from the 1950s and I managed to grab them from a table at a super tiny flea market, here around the corner and I'm living in Northern Germany and in the smaller towns here you can actually find pieces like these, very often, sometimes they actually hurt, that's a little problem with the clip earrings because if I find a pair of clip earrings that I really love it's mostly an obstacle to wear them all day long, because after about 2 or 3 hours my ears really hurt and I feel that they're absolutely sitting too tight. So in this case I'm really lucky, these are really cute, they're with lavender coloured little stones and there are some other pieces that sure have a really special meaning to me. For example, these super cute mid-1950s clip earrings in cream colour and gold. I got these from my grandmother, my grandmother gave me them shortly before she passed away, so this is this is actually the last piece of her that I received and that I cherish since so many years now. As a woman you might want to try pearls once in a while, in this case I'm really happy that I’ve found them, also they're vintage and I felt and the little thrift shop and although they're certainly not the real deal, they're original and they're from an elderly lady, so definitely something old and truly vintage and I personally love when the colour of pearls is not completely pure white, but a little more beigey or just down toned a little bit, sometimes looks better on extremely pale skin unless you're a truly classic winter type. Winter type, maybe you're Dita Von Teese type with very black hair, very pale skin and absolutely can wear white perfectly but in my case, I'm not really winter type, a warm type and with dark blonde hair so and the very pale skin, so it's very difficult to find pearls that absolutely fit to me and match my type. So in this case I'm really happy if I find some pearls that a little more beige and have a warm undertone and I also have found these earrings that I'm very proud of. They're also very small clip earrings, silver, simple they're from the late 50s and I wear them a lot. I think some people just have preferences when it comes to jewellery and I as you can hear, have a problem saying the word jewellery. Jewellery, I'm very sorry if I sound weird today because this is really actually a word in English that I can almost not pronounce, but if you know my videos already, that you know that sometimes mixing up a lot of words and I thought I'm showing you also pieces that are not originally vintage, but match a, vintage output perfectly fine and if you're into the maybe 1930s 1940s era, you must have seen in footage or pictures or somewhere else, that many women back then would also for formal occasions where necklaces that were a little more prominent. Often of course it was diamonds and stuff like that, I found this necklace and I really love to wear in the case of an evening occasion, more formal occasion. Another piece that I found also in New York City and the same shop was this bracelet and I absolutely love the design and the colour is super beautiful and it looks a bit more like in 1920's, 1930's bracelet. I truly love it and treasure it very much and while I'm talking about traveling, I also wanted to show you pair of earrings. Again that I love very, very much especially in summertime. I found these wonderful earrings on the Heathrow Airport in London, I had two hours between flights and I didn't know what to do with myself so I had a few coffees and was a little bit over the top with my energy and then I came across a little jewellery shop and then I found these beautiful things. They have a beautiful soft design, they're gold coloured with rhinestones and why I'm showing you these pieces, that are not originally vintage, is because you can add those modern style pieces as well perfectly fine to your vintage outfits and one of the really special pieces of my inherited jewelleries, is this one here. It's a long amber necklace that I inherited from my grandfather, actually he gave it to me while he was still alive, years and years ago and he brought it back to Germany from Latvia. When I got it from him I was about 15 years old I didn't really like amber because I thought it was sort of an old folks jewellery piece and didn't really want to wear it to anything, especially not to school. Nowadays it really experiences a revival, because many people who love retro stuff and vintage outfits, truly rely on those things that are great grand mothers and grandmothers would wear, but if you're a tourist in you're ever in Germany and you're looking for amber on the beach then absolutely be sure to be very, very careful. Because there are a lot of accidents here with tourists who are watching the beach and looking for amber and when they find a piece, they believe it's amber that can as well be mistaken with phosphorous from the wartime. The wartime prosperous bombs would fall down into the Baltic sea and the little pieces of that remained in the sea and sometimes land at the coast and what it does is that it can set you actually on fire and the problem is that you can’t run into the water because as soon as you get out you catch fire again. So we have burning accidents and severe burnings and the past few years, the tourists and so I do hope that there is a lot more information around in the future to keep tourists warned and save them from harm. So if you ever look for those kinds of amber then please be sure that it can look just like phosphorus and you can't really determine the one from the other, but I guess if you find the real thing and you have a wonderful piece of jewellery like this and it also reminds you of someone special in your life. That's the perfect real deal. When it comes to brooches I must say that this is the piece that really can make an outfit look vintage, even though it's modern. Sometimes brooches are a little more heavy and if you have for example, a fine silk blouse on and then you it push the needle through the fabric, that can of course be a little tricky. One of the heavier pieces that I own is this route and you might have seen it sometimes in my videos on my outfits as well as in photos that I post mostly in Instagram, is from the early 1950s and unfortunately some of the rhinestones fell off. After a while after I’ve used it quite a lot and so I went out and bought some superglue, well it didn't turn out too good, there are still stones missing but the fingers got stuck together. So maybe I’ll try it another time again, something else I wanted to show you is again a pair of clip earrings that I’ve also found a flea market and those are from the very early 1950s and the thing is that they're actually also signed. I found something on the internet for a change they're signed listener earrings and this piece really has a beautiful design, that is very classic. You can wear this of course to a business output whatever or on a daily basis, but I truly enjoy them on a special occasion and that is definitely something I enjoy. With vintage jewellery that you can have this super simplest outfit, it doesn't have to be pricey, it doesn't have to be special or from a designer. You just take what you have and then add a beautiful piece of accessory to it like a gold bracelet or gold necklace and they can completely lift yourself up and become super classy from your whole look and look sophisticated and well put together. So those were my favorited pieces of my tiny vintage jewellery collection and I would love to share a new pieces that I find in the future with you as well on Pinterest or on Instagram, where I mostly post any kind of outfits or stuff that I find. A round of vintage pieces and retro styled stuff so maybe you want to take a look and at my Instagram account and find some more inspiration for whatever you want to combine of vintage pieces and I hope that this video. Also make you a little more interested in vintage jewellery and gave you an insight and what you can combine and what really can work also from modern pieces that you can add a spin to jewellery pieces if you like so everything works as long as you like it and I hope that you visit me again very soon here back on my channel and thank you so much for watching bye, bye.
